I'm afraid of 4 out of 72 common fears.

Right, on with it...

***

If you get more than 30, I strongly recommend some counseling
If you get more than 20, you’re paranoid.
If you get 10-20, you are normal.
If you get 10 or less, you’re fearless.
People who don’t have any are liars.

I Fear…

[ ] the dark (When I'm walking a dark road I am a man who walks alone...(Bonus points if you get the reference))
[ ] staying single forever (Eh, I've hope yet. Besides, I've been in love before. Even that brief time would be worth never having it again. (though I do want it))
[X] being a parent (Yeah, I can see myself screwing that up, but I want it anyway. >_< )
[ ] giving birth (I don't have to do the hard bit, so no. Besides, it must work out fine most times, else we'd've died off long ago.)
[ ] being myself in front of others (Am I ever not myself in some way?)
[ ] open spaces (Love em.)
[ ] closed spaces (Love em more.)
[ ] heights (Used to be, kept climbing till I got over it)
[ ] dogs (I've given significant thought to how I'd fight one off if ever attacked, and I have a healthy respect for the damage one could do, but I'm not phobic or anything. I like dogs, especially pit bulls and retrievers)
[ ] birds (No, not even in Hitchcock's hands. I'd die fighting, take hundreds of the flappy bastards with me.)
[ ] fish (No, but I am scared of hooks, so I prefer other methods of catching them, but apparently spear fishing is illegal off the reservation.)
[ ] spiders (How many of you have seen me pick up a tarantula? Spiders are totally cool with me.)
[ ] flowers or other plants (Only triffids.)

Total so far: 1

[ ] being touched (Eh, no, I'm pretty physically expressive myself, so...)
[ ] fire (Fascinated, not frightened. I'm convinced I'll die in a fire, but it doesn't bother me. It would hurt though.)
[ ] deep water (Deep water's fun, and I'm good swimmer. Plus, there's gotta be land somewhere, so even if you drown, you can die trying)
[ ] snakes (Mmm, tasty)
[ ] silk (This is common? Seriously?)
[ ] the ocean (Love the shore, and see what I said about deep water?)
[ ] failure (If at first you don't succeed...)
[ ] success (I think I could live with that.)
[ ] thunder/lightning (Aside from mild concern for my computer? Nah.)
[ ] frogs/toads (Amphibians are nifty. See what I said about spiders? :D)
[ ] my boyfriends/girlfriends dad (No more than I am of any other person who wants to kill me.)
[ ] boyfriends/girlfriends mom (*shrug* Dad's the one with the shotgun.)
[X] rats (Um....not as long as I don't have to touch them or anything...well, it'd be okay if I had gloves on....bitey little plaguey things....guess that's a yes. ^^; )
[ ] jumping from high places (I'd probably take jumping to my death over other ways of dying any day.)
[ ] snow (But it's so pretty! o-o)

Total so far: 2

[ ] rain (Rain is just about the coolest thing ever. :D)
[ ] wind (It's annoying when it knocks the power out...)
[ ] crossing hanging bridges (Even if it breaks you could probably grab something...Like I said earlier, I got over my fear of heights.)
[ ] death (It would be inconvenient.)
[ ] heaven (Seriously? What the hell is wrong with people?)
[ ] being robbed (It's inconvenient. If I walked in on one, I'd mostly be pissed off. Robber better be scared of me. What's he gonna do, shoot me? I can do a lot worse than that. >:D )
[ ] falling (The fall won't hurt you, it's the sudden stop you have to worry about. Deceleration trauma. <3 )
[ ] clowns (Clowns anger me.)
[ ] dolls (I'M BAAAAAAAAAACK :D)
[ ] large crowds of people (The trick is to be aggressive. Push first.)
[ ] men (Only if they're trying to raep me. )
[ ] women (See above.)
[ ] having great responsibilities (I'm not the one who should be afraid of that...)
[ ] doctors, including dentists (Okay, you know how they swear an oath? Like, to not hurt people?)
[ ] tornadoes (I can goes to Oz nao plz?)

Total so far: still 2

[ ] hurricanes (No more than any other inclement weather. It only scares me if I'm out on the water and can't beat it to shore.)
[ ] incurable diseases (Life is an incurable disease. It's 100% lethal, too.)
[ ] sharks (Tasty. Just don't bleed on them. Or near them.)
[ ] Friday the 13th (Statistically no more unlucky than any other day.)
[ ] ghosts (They have no power over you that you don't give them.)
[ ] poverty (The less you have, the less you have to lose.)
[ ] Halloween (We've got the date wrong anyway. The dead come out on the fall equinox, but remember what I said about ghosts?)
[X] school (Been there, done that, have about fifty T-shirts. (okay, just twelve, and I still wear some of them. Wearing one now! North Park, yo! Still, I suppose that it could be argued that fear has kept me from giving it another shot, so...)
[ ] trains (So amazingly much safer than cars.)
[ ] odd numbers (Umm....numbers?)
[ ] even numbers (NUMBERS?)
[ ] being alone (Dude. People suck.)
[ ] becoming blind (It would make me sad, I suppose. But there'd still be plenty to live for. And thank God for audio books.)
[ ] becoming deaf (I probably will eventually. :\ Gotta get my music now.)
[ ] growing up (Been there, done that, wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.)

Total so far: 3

[ ] creepy noises in the night (Night noises aren't creepy to me. I'm kinda used to them.)
[X] bee stings (Not bees, no. But I HATE wasps. (and I can tell the difference))
[ ] not accomplishing my dreams/goals (If that bothered me, I'd've worked a LOT harder.)
[ ] needles (As long as they're sterile.)
[ ] blood (squirt squirt)
[ ] dinosaurs (They're kinda dead...)
[ ] the welcome mat (This is common? I worry about people sometimes...)
[ ] high speed (It's the danger that makes it fun.)
[ ] throwing up (If I puke, I don't have to go to work. If I'm at work, I can go home. Really it's a pretty win situation, as long as it's not my day off. >_<;)
[ ] falling in love (Remember what I said about rain? This is why I said 'just about';)
[ ] super secrets (Huh?)

Final Total: 4
Huh. Guess my fears are too obscure for this quiz. Hooks, lobsters, and zombies.

... if you wish to post this in your journal, it's been requested that you title it I'm afraid of _ out of 72 common fears...

Sometimes, I feel sorry for cats.

Like, when I see them coughing up hairballs.
There was more, but then I over thought it and the whole thing collapsed.

A Brace of Waterfowl

I have come to the conclusion that existence is a paradox.
The only thing which makes sense is nothing.
Nothing makes sense.
Including that statement.
There is no explanation.
There is no spoon.

Justin Timberlake: LOL WUT?

Even if he did somehow turn out to be a pretty good actor, no one will ever take him seriously because he sings like a girl.
No offense intended, girls.

Oh yeah....

My computer works again.
I bought a new (and improved) power supply7 for $100 and installed it myself with a screwdriver.
Huh.
So, I get everything plugged back in, boot up and rejoin the internet.
One of my first priorities was to check my financial status.
So I log into online banking, and confirm that I am, indeed, quite poor.
And then I look at my credit card.
$140 outstanding balance.
...
Apparently two checks were cashed that I couldn't quite afford and overdraft protection (which I am thankful for) charged the balance to my credit card.
Now this really isn't all that big of a deal, since I should have no problem paying it off.
Except that I just spent $100 on a new power supply.... >_<
*sigh*
Well, at least I have enough food to last for a while.

Error: cannot divide by zero.
Oh shi- *sound of fuse blowing*
*powers down*
I've only had that computer for a month...
Cockroaches may have been involved.
They are now dead, but may have voided my warranty.
*sigh*
Back to the library for me till I can get this fixed. >_<
Fucking roaches. *squishes*

Touching is gooooooooood!

Let me say first: the boomerang in Phantom Hourglass? Teh awesomez.
So, yeah, after much deliberation (read: wandering from store to store until I found myself in Walmart's electronics department) I decided not to get a Wii, but to instead get a DS, LoZ the Phantom Hourglass, and several pieces of peripheral hardware for my PC (Speakers (w/ sub woofer), Joystick, wireless mouse and keyboard, etc...)
So...no Wii, no Okami (yet, at least I can get this one for PS2), no Metroid Prime III (next year, I hope), and no smash brothers.
But, I've got all but one of the transformers toys I currently want.
Aaaaand...my computer rocks. :D
Okay.
Next time Raptur's here, there's a SNES rom I've been wanting to do 2-player.
It will bring back memories. (top view air combat game)
And be awesome.
And I now have two controllers for my PC, so no more sticking someone on the keyboard. :D

That's all, taa.

Still hard to let go...

I look at pictures of my ex-girlfriend and think "Oh yeah, her eyes really were that blue..."

Over two years and I'm still in love with her.
And I don't even know if it's right or wrong to feel this way.

Holy Crap...

The Killers' new album.... (which I finally got, (released last fall))
They cover Dire Straights' "Romeo and Juliet"
For those of you who don't know how awesome that is, let me tell you, it's pretty freakin awesome. :D
They also have a remix of Mr. Brightside (from Hot Fuss, the first album) and an alternate version of Sam's Town (From Sam's Town, the second album).
They also have all three of the bonus tracks from the limited edition release of Hot Fuss (Glamorous Indie Rock and Roll, The Ballad of Micheal Valentine, and Under the Gun) which leaves us with eleven new songs on a seventeen track CD.
Conclusion: Worth Every Penny. Especially if you're already a Killers fan. It's different, they're definitely maturing as a band, but I like it, so.... :d

Does anyone even read this thing any more?

That's about three less than I want, but still more than I need....maybe. >.>
I like my graphics card but I want a better one....NVIDIA? WTF, wurs mah ATI?
So um... yeah.
Internet arrives saturday.
Also the crack dreams I mentioned last post....Shattered anew when I found out that I owed the city of Dayon $112 D:
For this I get to wait three weeks before they fix all the potholes on my street after a big snowstorm? Great. >_<

...Oh yeah! I was gonna post a meme! here it is:

Three Things You Want To Do Before You Die:
1.) Fight a horde of rampaging velociraptors (or raptor like aliens) bullets and a sword for when I run out, and my pet velociraptor spark that I raised from a baby, then die gloriously in defense of the colony, only to be whisked up to heaven where I discover, to my inevitable dismay, that Jesus and the Pope, really were velociraptors all along. D:(obviously, this is the last thing I want to do before I die, and preferably when I'm old) Although I'd be satisfied with a video game where that happens. XP
2.) Go to Spain
3.) Get laid....ha! ...No really, I'd like to find a nice girl and marry her....and then get laid and make lots of little Jensies and Jensettes. :P

Three Names You Go By:
1.) Jens - my given name, on my birth certificate.

1.) Yensil314, after a while I chopped off the numbers, but that one's still floating around a few sites.

1.) The door on the left leads to freedom
2.) The door on the right leads to freedom

Saturday, April 12, 2008

Speedway coffee has never let me down.

And it's cheaper than Starbucks.
So....I HAS A KOMPYOOTAR MASHEEN!
Uh...it's shiny and fast and new....
But I don't have internet access or security yet...so I'm still blogging from the library. XP
But even without the intarwebz, this still means that my FIRST AND FAVORITE GAMING PLATFORM IS BACK IN ACTION!
Of course... no online play...and I'm horribly out of date on games, but....eh, whatever.
Also: Any crack dreams I may have been nursing about having enough left over from my tax return to get a Wii or maybe just a DS, even assuming I didn't get any games right at first, were quite shattered when I got the tri-core processor instead of a dual core, upgraded to 19" monitor...and oh yeah...SALES TAX! >_<
Ironic that more than $50 of my tax return/econimic stimulus payment went straight back to good old Uncle Sam. >_<
And I still haven't gotten internet security software...figure another $100-$150...plus the fact that my scanner sucks worse than a hole in a spaceship and won't be getting replaced any time soon....I hate computers. >_<
No really, I'm very excited to have one that doesn't suck for the first time in ages, and I plan to take good care of it.....by which I mean push it to it's limits until it explodes and takes me with it....keep an eye on the papers for headlines like "MAN KILLED BY EXPLODING COMPUTER" or "BATTERED PC TAKES REVENGE IN TRAGIC DOUBLE SUICIDE"....
New sentence format today...ENTER THE ELIPSIS!
Which is a really cool word...okay bye.

I need to stop reading romance novels.

I'm almost starting to believe in happy endings.
So, I believe in fate.
But I also believe that due to our severly limited perception of space, and especially time, it is impossible for us mortals to know our fate before it happens, thereby creating the illusion, and for all reasonable intents and purposes (from our perspective) the reality, of free will.
...
Okay I was going to rant about how fate may or may not affect daily decisions and such, but I got bored and realized that all my arguments were pretty much pointless and circular and led to the conclusion that if one believes that the existence of fate makes action futile, the he/she was fated to be a n apathetic slob anyway, and if one decides to act anyway, then once again they were fated to do so.
Also: Perhaps fate is a wrong word, and free choice really does exist, only we have already made all of our choices, and fail to see that because our perspective is limited. Perhaps some omnipotent being who can see all that happens in all the time it takes for it to happen in, much in the way that we might see all of a two dimensional image of a certain size if given enough time to study it fully (therein revealing the flaw in using a spacial metaphor for a temporal phenomenon), can see and know what decisions we will make when we ourselves do not.
It's kind of difficult to describe that accurately with a limited perspective and vocabulary based on our own perception of time, so I'll have to trust in your imaginations and capability for abstract thought to figure it out.
Also I need to learn to make my run on sentences more readable.
This "Top1, top2 (top3 end3) end2, end1." or even worse: "Top1, top2 (top3 end3) middle2, top4 end4, end2; top5 (top6 end6) middle5, (top7 (top8, top9 end9; top10 end ten) middle8 (top11 end11) end8) end7) end5 (top12 end12), end1." (to cite an extreme case) has got to stop.
Even my example sentence was bad, it went: "top1 "Top2-end2" or "top3-end3" (top4 end4) end1.
Rignt then.
I can't help it.
I guess it just goes to show how my thought patterns work - circles within circles within circles connected to other circles. If some one were to draw my thoght patterns out it would probably look like the chainmail armor from hell....with horrid complicate spiderwebs connecting random distant links to each other.
Anyone capable of accurately representing such a thing on paper would have to be mad...or terribly terribly sane.....with a piece of paper that says they are.

Soooo....I digress.
Back to fate:
I bring this up because I have concluded that it is unwise to assume you know your fate, especially in connection to emotional matters, as you may well be dissapointed.
Same goes for hope, which is the same thing really.
...
Some people try to protect themselves from harm by not hoping, calling it being pragmatic, others manage to hope hard enough that even when they are dissapointed and manage to find solace in the next thing they hope for.
Buddhism teaches moderation in all things.
This post started cynical and now preaches moderation.
I may move on to endorsing wishful thinking by the end, but I doubt it.

Anyway

It's pointless to allow belief in fate to influence ones decisions since no matter what you do, you were going to do it anyway (or had alread chosen to, in the cosmic scheme of things).
Besides, you don't know, and speculation is always a poor basis for choice.

...I forgot anything else I was going to say, except for this:
I saw two robins on the way to the library today.
No doubt I would likely have seen one sooner had I not been driving the library for the past couple of weeks (cutting back on cigerettes (I always seem to smoke one each way when I walk) so I won't feel guilty about enjoying the pipe my brother gave me for my birthday) but regardless, it is now officially spring for me.
There's another one of those sentences...
Oh well.
Yay robins.
Yay spring.
And everyone is fated to comment: "TL;DR"
Oh well, I'm not gonna read it either. >_<

I'm cheering about spring...there's your endorsement of hope. o_o*

Aaaaaand it's April first...I should have said: "Hi, I died in a car accident about two hours ago, you'll hear about it soon, the afterlife is boring and really sucks."
Oh well.

"If there ain't no mud on the tires, it ain't a Jeep"

Just a very sexy SUV that wastes fossil fuels for no reason.
It's spring! It's rainy! Get out and get dirty! (Jeep optional, bare feet are an excellent substitute) Throw mud at someone you love! Run away very quickly!
Oh yeah, happy Easter.
Celebrate the return of life to the earth with commercialized versions of pagan fertility rituals.

I never did that.
I swear.
Maybe once....

I miss my childhood. >_<

A little worse for wear after St Patrick's Day.

Last night, I thought of no less than six phrases which would've made for great blog titles.
Now I can't remember any of them.
Today I threw out a toaster oven that was given to my parents as a wedding present.
It was about thirty years old, and it finally stopped working. This, in addition to a little too much fun last night, has me keenly aware of my own mortality.
So, this weekend has been filled with procrastination. Today, on the last day of my vacation, it must end.
Things that need to be done must be done, and et cetera. Also, add my laundry to that list. >_O

It's funny what you end up missing...

Well, as I've lately been working longer shifts, and getting an extra day off in exchange, as well as the fact that I should be getting transfered to a department that works first shift (read: daytime), as well as various other small factors, I seem to be sleeping more and more at night, and being up during the day. (at least on my days off)
Now that I've got that horrible Dickensian length sentence out of my system, let me get to the point.
I realized earlier that I miss waking up just after dark (or in the summer, a bit before it) on my nights off, and spending the whole night in my apartment doing nothing much. Listening to audio books while playing vido games, long pointless games of Heroscape (with me playing as both (or however many) sides), taking the time to actually cook a decent meal, and then eating it while I watched a movie, or tv show on dvd or anime, or just putting some music on and lying on my couch to read a book...all things which I still do on my days off, of course, but the key difference is that waking up at four or five or six in the morning, when it's still dark and doing these things into the day and during the day just isn't the same as doing it all night in the strange half light achieved by a large window that lets the night in and only one small light fixture on the far side of the room, and a lamp you bought to help it out a little to stave that night off. Seeing the sun come up and thinking, not "Oh, the day is starting", but rather "Oh I should eat something and then start winding down to sleep in a few hours..."
Oh I like the day well enough, and I'm probably healthier for having more exposure to the sun... But somehow, hanging out with just myself and my toys (no social distractions, like the internet, or being on a busy college campus with people still wandering in and out even at four am) never got old, and I sometimes wonder why I don't do it anymore.

Otherwise no. I have cried over a few books....Most noteably The Outcast of Redwall.
Pranked called someone? Prank calling is stupid.
Passed out? From drinking...probably, but it would've been bed time anyway.
This or That
Pepsi or Coke:
RC COLA!
McDonalds or Burger King: Wendy's <- the last person to take this quiz said that too.
Chocolate or Vanilla: Strawberry.
Burgers or Hot dogs: O_O HOW CAN I DECIDE!? D: Any meat is fine.
Sun or Moon: The daystar hurts my eyes.
Hot or Cold: Cold. You can always put layers on, but there's a limit to how many you can remove.

Hmm....that quiz was a bit more revealing than I'd intended. O-o
What's even stranger is that I'm posting it anyway.

It's the little things that make me love you...

I found my camera.
For those of you who may not know, it's been missing since January 2007.
I have cleaned my room quite thoroughly several times since then in an effort to find it.
Today, while cleaning for entirely different reasons, it finally turned up.
O-o
Hooray! :D

A few little things.

I guess that last post wasn't the best one to dissappear after for two or three weeks. I'd actually forgotten about it though, until someone finally commented on it. :d

I walked outside this morning and thought, "Oh hey, it snowed."

I don't really understand the plot of My-HiME, which means I'm basically reduced to watching it for the fanservice, and in hopes that the plot becomes more clear in volume two. O_o
Also, I started watching it, so I have to finish it. >_<
Damn OCD. D:

I think I've finally found a church I like.
As in: may actually go back to, and on a regular basis.
We'll see.

Today is the last day of your life up till now.

Oh happy dagger this is thy sheath.
There rust and let me die.

And wouldn't you know, it's raining.

If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to see it except a blind man, is he in danger of being crushed?

Gaaaah work is a drag.
Also I am losing my sanity in that place.
I'm usually so tired after work that I don't bother to even stop at the library on my way home. And even if I do, blogging is near the bottom of my list of things to do online and is often neglected. >_<
Yesterday I spent the last two hours or so at work repeating the following shakespeare quote over and over and over. >_<

"Tomorrow, and tomorrow, and tomorrow, creeps in this petty pace from day to day.
To the last syllable of recorded time, and all our yesterdays have ligthed fools
the way to dusty death. Out, out brief candle! Life's but a poor player
that struts and frets his hour upon the stage and then is hear no more.
It is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing."

It seemed appropriate...nevertheless, I'm pretty sure I"m losing it.
Especially when my recitations broke down into spontaneous compisitions (in iambic pentameter) about the conditions of the shelves. >_<

I Am A: Neutral Good Human Ranger/Cleric (2nd/1st Level)

Ability Scores:

Strength-14

Dexterity-13

Constitution-15

Intelligence-17

Wisdom-12

Charisma-14

Alignment:
Neutral Good A neutral good character does the best that a good person can do. He is devoted to helping others. He works with kings and magistrates but does not feel beholden to them. Neutral good is the best alignment you can be because it means doing what is good without bias for or against order. However, neutral good can be a dangerous alignment because because it advances mediocrity by limiting the actions of the truly capable.

Race:
Humans are the most adaptable of the common races. Short generations and a penchant for migration and conquest have made them physically diverse as well. Humans are often unorthodox in their dress, sporting unusual hairstyles, fanciful clothes, tattoos, and the like.

Primary Class:
Rangers are skilled stalkers and hunters who make their home in the woods. Their martial skill is nearly the equal of the fighter, but they lack the latter's dedication to the craft of fighting. Instead, the ranger focuses his skills and training on a specific enemy a type of creature he bears a vengeful grudge against and hunts above all others. Rangers often accept the role of protector, aiding those who live in or travel through the woods. His skills allow him to move quietly and stick to the shadows, especially in natural settings, and he also has special knowledge of certain types of creatures. Finally, an experienced ranger has such a tie to nature that he can actually draw on natural power to cast divine spells, much as a druid does, and like a druid he is often accompanied by animal companions. A ranger's Wisdom score should be high, as this determines the maximum spell level that he can cast.

Secondary Class:
Clerics act as intermediaries between the earthly and the divine (or infernal) worlds. A good cleric helps those in need, while an evil cleric seeks to spread his patron's vision of evil across the world. All clerics can heal wounds and bring people back from the brink of death, and powerful clerics can even raise the dead. Likewise, all clerics have authority over undead creatures, and they can turn away or even destroy these creatures. Clerics are trained in the use of simple weapons, and can use all forms of armor and shields without penalty, since armor does not interfere with the casting of divine spells. In addition to his normal complement of spells, every cleric chooses to focus on two of his deity's domains. These domains grants the cleric special powers, and give him access to spells that he might otherwise never learn. A cleric's Wisdom score should be high, since this determines the maximum spell level that he can cast.

POP QUIZ!

1. In The Amber Spyglass (third in the "His Dark Materials" trilogy, which begins with The Golden Compass, recently made into a movie), Will and Lyra's daemons finally settle into permanent forms. What are those forms?

Umm...kind of a lame quiz because I don't have any other questions at the moment.
Not that anyone answers them anyway.
Especially when I've been neglecting my blog for a while.

Anyway, something I noticed while playing LoZ Twighlight Princess while wandering around at night in search of poes.
Orion, the constellation....And other real constellations in a fairly accurate portrayal of the night sky from, I assume Japan.

Anyway, will try to post more.
And to keep up with other people's blogs.
